The “Stern Castle” as she’s known is another Lake Erie mystery ship. Not much is know of her origin, identity, or loss. She’s a two masted schooner lying upright in 185 feet of water. She gets her name by her most pronounced feature, her stern castle. The midships is silted over, but the stern and bow rise out of the bottom. Her wheel is still in place as are the windlass and much of her running gear. Visibility at this site often exceeds 50 feet, but bottom temperatures seldom exceed the low 40’s. Dress warm!
